The ” Athlete” is a model of a penetrable sculpture proposed for the public space of south-eastern Paris, in Bercy. The structure is measuring 17m x 12 m, representing the image of an athlete broken down into 760 plexiglass orthogonal forms, of varying heights and colors, each one corresponding to a pixel.
Using the specificity of the place that gives 3 different hypsometric levels the structure changes, giving the possibility to the spectator to exchange in different ways: Distant observe (street level) / active participant (square level) / part of an interaction (flash code to the entrance level).
Designed particularly for this space, this project questions the way in which our aesthetic experience is modulated according to our position and our engagement in the work of art.
